Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church was founded in 1854 by monks of the Abbey of Einsiedeln in Switzerland. Today the 100-plus monks of this Benedictine community still live by the Rule of St. Benedict, and with the motto "ora et labora" (pray and work).

The church was renovated in 1996/1997 at which time the organ was rebuilt by Goulding & Wood. It contains 3,844 pipes, grouped into 70 ranks forming 55 stops.
